One of the vloggers did an interview with the owner of that car. The dealership (not GM) did a lot to make it right.

They compensated him for the car, the wrap, the ceramic coating.
They are selling him a new Z06 at INVOICE.
They are paying his sales tax and license on the new Z06.
He is first in line in the auto group for the Z06.
They paid his depreciation on his five month old truck trade-in.
They are paying for five years of maintenance on the new Z06, plus the maintenance of the 2011 Z06 he bought, including wearable items such as tires.

Sounds like he got a pretty good deal.

I'd say that's a good deal.

Let me know if you have any service or technical questions about the C8. I think I'm going to do one of those 3-day service information passes to satisfy some curiosities about the onboard data networks.

I'd be interested if there's anything on the extra quart of transmission fluid you can add for track. If there's any sort of official guide to doing it, or any technotes around effects of the additional lube. I figured I would just add it if there's no significant negative consequences. A MPG or two of fuel economy wouldn't stop me from doing it.

Or if there's anything interesting about the retractable hardtop. I think you can lower it by remote, but not put it back up. I'd probably want to rig up a remote like I did on the Spyder to allow doing both from a fob if that's at all possible.

If it is interesting to you, it is probably something I'd love to see also.

It looks like you're right about the roof. I wonder why they don't let you close it? There's just as many pinch hazards opening it, so I don't think it's a safety issue.

I'll see what I can find out about the DCT oil. All it says in the track prep guide is you don't need to remove it.

BTW, Techlink is full of good info. I'm glad it's not behind a corporate login.

The roof is the same way on our Camaro. Even worse, it doesn't automatically put the rear windows back up when the roof is put back up with the button. Seems like an obvious oversight that could've been easily corrected. Or it shows just how good the Spyder was way back in 1995.

The Mustang is the same way. We rented one when we were in Vegas for Vira's birthday a few years ago. We had the roof down at Hoover Dam. We went to put it back up, because it had started raining. We couldn't figure out how to get the back quarter windows up. There was a whole separate switch for that.

That’s an amazing deal. I would be roasting tires infront if the dealership and then back in for another set.

Decided to go on my 'fishing trip'.

Early observations.

None of the common engine maintenance procedures start with 'remove engine'.
The data networking on this thing is insane.
The DCT programming procedure is even more insane. GM keeps something called a 'component genealogy' stored in the cloud.

Aka, no modding but if you do it voids warranty.

As of right now, there's no modding period. The electronic components are locked. I still can't find anything specific about that. All the magic is hidden deep inside the mothership.

Oil tank replacement is the only thing I've seen so far that requires dropping the engine. That's a pre-requisite for the water pump though. The alternator and AC compressor and their belts are serviced from underneath.

It doesn't go nearly high enough to drop an engine out.

I don't want this car anyway.

So basically the engine has to come out to do the water pump, because the oil tank has to be removed first. I guess it's basically impossible to make a mid engine car that doesn't require engine removal for something basic.

You're a week late :ick:

LMR seemed to be able to "tune" StreetSpeed717's more than she was able to get her's "tuned". I love how on both channels they keep talking about eventually someone will be able to tune the ECU, where it's not highly likely based on all the stuff Jeff has posted.

I haven’t been keeping up with the thread, I would say a running twin turbo setup is a far cry from no kidding period. I’m sure it’s not optimal, but it’s running lol.
