That looks very un-fun to work on.

Update. Trans is out.

He says the tech support guys claim it'll damage the valve body if you rest it on the pan. It'll be interesting to see how many people make that mistake.

Does the C8 have auto start/stop? Could explain the massive starter.

I'm not sure. I think so?

Supposedly the last VIN off the line was 2703. Out of a planned 30,000+. Zero convertibles so far.

They'll probably build some more once they start back up, but 2020 is going to be a short year. For comparison, ZR1 production by itself was 2953. 2018 was a short year due to the plant rebuild.

Yearly totals for C7 were:

2019---34,822
2018---9,686
2017---22,801
2016---40,689
2015---34,240
2014---37,288

Is that 2019 stat correct at 34,822? That's wild... Guess a lot of people wanted the last of the front-engine Corvettes.

Still wondering if people are dropping out like crazy and I could potentially get mine sooner. I don't need it sooner, but I guess if it happened I'd take it.

I think this guy hits on my problem with the styling. It does look better as a front engine car. They tried to take an evolution of the C7 styling, especially the ZR1, and force it into mid-engine proportions.

The sides on the render aren't great, but the overall proportions just work better.

I agree. After looking at at the front engine one looks way better.

I like the mid-engine design better. Though maybe just because their render of the front-engine door looks horrible.

2021 changes are starting to trickle out. Nothing crazy so far. Couple new paint colors, some new stickers, and something called a 'Stingray R' graphics package.

There's also speculation that the last VIN to come off the line before the shutdown was 2741.

I'll be watching to see what the "Silver Flare" paint color is.

Saw my first C8 in the wild today. It was the ceramic gray. Gotta say, I really liked the look of the car at least in passing (was going the opposite way), but I don't really like that gray color. Almost looks like it's dirty white.

That's kinda what I thought about that color. Dirty white... The silver looks much better, IMO.

I just googled it. I think it needs to be more grey.

Some companies that do GTR and 911 DCT work have started tearing into the C8 trans. They're saying the stock clutch pack is only good for ~600 ft-lbs. Stock is 470.

No news on tuning yet either.

I bet tuning that DCT is going to be extremely difficult for a while. Also guessing that just throwing in a stronger clutch pack will be problematic with driveability. If I was wanting a higher powered one, I'd just wait for the Z06. I'll be happy with stock Stingray though.

Thanks to the fucked up rollout of this car, I've just about completely lost interest in it. I'll be surprised if we see the Z06 before mid 2021 at this point. It'll probably be a 2022 model now.
