I've got this weird problem with the clutch, and I could use some ideas.
Over the last couple months, when I first get in the truck and put the clutch pedal down, it goes to the floor. It works fine after a pump or two. It's happened a couple times after it sits for a full day at work, but usually it needs to sit overnight before it happens again.
We bled it last weekend, and I got a lot of air out. But it's still happening. We ran a lot of fluid through it, so I'd be surprised if I missed some air pocket.
I don't see any leaks on either side of the cylinder.
My main concern is having it fail and getting stranded somewhere. I can change the master cylinder pretty easily. The slave cylinder is inside the bell housing, and I'd have to drop the trans. It's not cheap either.
Thoughts?

Sounds like one of them is losing prime and thus not sealing anymore. It always is the slave in my case. Is there any additive you could use that would be a little thicker? Brake fluid is thin stuff.

Anyways, sounds like its bypassing somewhere. Likely need a rebuild, or just buy new parts.

I was afraid of that.
Supposedly it's got an aftermarket clutch. I guess whoever allegedly did that didn't bother swapping the slave. For all I know it's original and has over 170k miles on it. :d ontknow:
On the bright side, I could probably drop the trans out of this thing without jacking it up.

Master is ~35 at RockAuto. Slave is ~70. For some reason I thought it was over 130. That's not bad. I might look into it once the weather is a little nicer and I start driving the Corvette daily.

Based on my experience they probably did swap the slave. A few months ago I did 3 of them in a week. All had been previously replaced with the slave included with the clutch kit installed by another shop. One of those I did again 2 weeks later after the new one I had put in failed. (LUK) iirc.
I'm not a fan. What's wrong with a normal slave and a fork? Why we gotta have a csc and integrated bearing?

Originally it was me shopping for a DD. Then Vira said she'd chip in some if we got something we'd both have fun with. At the time, fun was something we could put the kayak on top of, add a bike rack to, and maybe take camping once in a while.
Now she wants to build a trail rig / overlander out of it because her coworker has an instagram account full of rocky sunset photos from his adventures in his Nissan Frontier.

Just a thought. Has anyone made a conversion to bring the slave outside the bellhousing, obviously you would need to get the old one out, but if it would save you time later on if it did it again?

I initially wanted to go off-roading with it. You know...not be a poser vehicle? Do something FUN with it.
I learned a lot of the off-roading stuff goes hand in hand with overlanding.
It's cool to have a friend that will show us the ropes. :d ontknow: Why not? We don't have to go overlanding, but we shouldn't rule it out till, you know...we actually TRY something.

Curious question Vira - and this isn't meant bad at all.. how would your back handle the roughness of overlanding and off roading? Think it would hold up for it?
