Let's talk compressed air

That space between the garage doors isn't even a foot wide once you account for the door rails. It's way too small.

East wall won't work either because of the stairwells going up and down.

I can't put it along the west wall either. There's no electrical over there at all, and it would take up too much space. I can barely walk between the truck and the wall with a transmission and a rear axle sitting on the floor on that side. They stick out less than the compressor would.

My buddy has runs of plastic line all through his shop. I'll have to ask him what material it is. He has a screw compressor rated at 200 PSI and hasn't had any kind of issues.

Sounds like you are stuck where you are at. Might just run something like this with a regular line, so you can get around that beam. Doesn't need to be that far away from the compressor either as it will be on a reel and can extend out.

One of the main goals is to get an air hose out to the driveway for tires. I'd really like to do that with a hose reel between the doors. If I'm going to run hoses across the interior of the garage, I don't need to rearrange anything. I can just buy a 50 foot length of hose and call this done.

I did some measuring just now. The compressor is too tall to fit underneath the two big ducts coming out of the basement. The water heater exhaust comes out through the same space. But it looks like I can fit the compressor sideways between those two sets of ducts. Not ideal, but it's still a better use of space than what I've got now.

I'm pretty sure I've got a route over the beam too.

Correct about PVC, it can be a grenade. Best dryer would be a long zig zag of copper with drains at the bottom of each loop, with an additional dryer at each output. If you dont wany anything that complex, id at least recommend a dryer at the compressor and at the hose. Also, i would get a regulator at each line, in case you use different tools at different areas, you dont have to go all the way to the compressor each time. Also, flexzilla makes some good shit too from what i remember

Spent some time cleaning this weekend cleaning up and rethinking my plan. I'm still going to knock out that wall for some extra storage space, but I think I've got a better place for the compressor.



There's some electrical lines on the ceiling in the basement, right near the east wall. I think I can add an electrical outlet without much hassle. I'm going to talk it over with Vira's dad later this week.

The laundry room is the basement. The outlet situation down there isn't a whole lot better.

I talked to Vira's dad on Sunday. He came up with a better suggestion.

We recently replaced our nasty old electric range with a nice gas model. So we've got this big 30 amp circuit that's not doing anything.

He suggested re-purposing that to drive the compressor and a few accessory outlets. It won't be a whole lot more work than what I was originally considering, and it'll be a much more capable solution.

The main breaker is 100 amp. The old stove circuit is 40. It's got a big double breaker, so I think that means it's 240v?

Yup the two means it can be a 240 service. That’s what I had them run to my compressor, but wire in 110. So I can be changed real easy when I get a man compressor.

I put in two 200amp boxes in my house so I never have to worry about upgrading later.

I needed to bump up the tires in the Corvette last night. It seems an extension cord works just fine in this location too.
