Yes. I picked a name that If I misspelled no one would notice.

Changed 4, they were autolite platinums. So they have been changed at some point. I will change the others later but I highly doubt this was causing any mile per gallon loss. So I guess 13.5 is just about what it should be, and I’m fine with that.

I still just feel like something isn’t right with the front end. Yes Chevy Independent front suspension sucks. All the more reason to be cautious.
I jacked up the front and checked the wheels for the wheel bearings and also checked the ball joints. Everything is tight as can be. Which is good, but it’s annoying to track down this jarring when going over hard bumps.

Had my window down today while making a turn that slowed down from 50 all the at time around 25 to take.
Noticed a grinding. Well I just checked the wheel bearings last week, tried to check the brakes by rotating the wheels (you don’t get too far till it gets hard to turn). Well, nothing. Wheel bearings are good too.
Called up the guy that did the fuel pump for me, he asked if it was in 4wheel auto. I said it was because of our snow. He said take it out and do it again. So I did and the grinding went away. He said not to worry about it, but I feel like it shouldn’t do that.....is that a hub or transfer case? It does t do it strait in 4wheel drive.
Ideas?

It does make a little noise when turning in auto 4WD on non-slippery surfaces - but you shouldn’t be using auto 4WD or 4WD unless conditions are poor. Probably clutch noise in the transfer case.

I didnt think there was a problem leaving it in auto 4wd....it was dry surfaces but its almost always in 2wd.

Sold that to the guy who did the fuel pump on the avalanches dad. So I know nothing went wrong with it. It now has 188k on it.

I've never had an issue with the gm full-size trucks when in auto 4wd. Afaik it's essentially an awd at that point. Doesn't actually lock the transfer case until in 4hi

Thank you!
Now why does mine make that sound when in auto 4w?

When you are turning it senses the difference in wheel speeds as slippage and starts to engage the transfer case clutch. The noise is probably the clutch slipping due to the different axle rates front/rear during the turn.
