You're fucking nuts for doing this without a bench ECU or even a car.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Is there a novice/advanced mode in ECUflash so you can hide all the extraneous stuff that 99% of people won't ever use or understand what it is for? That's a shitload of tables in there!

This is really good stuff. Shocking how deep this code really goes.

Is it possible to put together a "Jump Start" setup, so that people who are running a 1st gen SL can easily look up which parts of the code pertain to them? I know its a long shot, but it would be awesome if there was a base setting (1st gen Sl, 1st gen TT, etc) that people could just click to engage stock values and sections of the rom, to simplify tuning. Thats probably just a pipe dream of mine though.

What can I say? I'm stubborn and am never satisfied until I complete something.

Oh and when I'm done, I'm releasing my entire disassembly to the public in txt format like Todd Day did with the 1G DSM ROM.

Yeah I was thinking of implementing this feature just because it's so easy to get lost.

For example there are 3.... yes 3.... different subroutines to handle high coolant temp fuel enrichment. All do the same damn thing. All 3 are disabled....

I get being stubborn. But you're making something that's already difficult even harder than it needs to be.

Not sure what you mean. I didn't write this code, just figuring out what it all does. The writers made it all more difficult than it needs to be.

I mean not having a physical example to experiment against, or to watch memory values as they wind their way through various routines.

It's great that Adam was able to help you, but you'd be able to iterate through scenarios so much faster if you had the tools in your own hands.

A lot was done on my 98/99 back in the day. There were some things that I missed because the flag bytes were logged in a running/driving car.

This caused some things to get missed. For example I had no idea there were 2 Air Conditioning inputs into the ECU. I needed Adam to help me figure out what triggered both pins and what flags were switched as a result.

Post Update:

Nothing beyond what I’ve already posted. Literally haven’t opened my disassembly since late November when I started my new job. Priorities shifted to working OT to build my garage (finally). Won’t be diving back into this for a while.

Oh Adam built a cool bench ECU rig. It’s taught us a few things that were interesting. Like what happens when the rev limiter is hit.

Move and lay down the law with the women. I almost didn’t get my garage till I told her I would park the mother fucking car on her porch. I wasn’t joking. I would have and all I was saying at the time was the garage door can’t be in the front of the house it has to be in the back. Some women just don’t understand what it takes and instinctively say no when they don’t get it.

Must be getting serious with the “girl”. Otherwise that could be a risky proposition.
