Corvetteblogger re-used a forum post I made about some 2021 Corvette test cars. First time that's happened. My mom is actually the one who texted me to point it out

Two of the members also provided some interesting feedback. The VIN on one of the mules reads “1G1YC2D73MX7685EX” to which radrace19 replied that makes it a 2021 model. Jeff V went further, saying “Different engine too. 2020 LT2 is 4 in the VIN. These look like they have an engine code of 7. The model code is YC rather than Y7 (base) or Y8 (Z51).

That plug is surely for a battery. We have the same plugs on our forklifts here for recharging.

One of the forum guys who's also an automotive engineer pointed out that those plugs are really good for running a 60 amp jump start through. They may have nothing at all to do with a hybrid system. But I do find it amusing there are cutoff switches on both the front and rear of the car.

I'm gonna have something from the C8 before anyone else even has a C8.

The image is super clear in real life. The camera washes it out a bit.

It's technically off a 2019 Camaro, but it's the exact same part. I had to go with one off a Camaro because it's the only one that matches the twist-on roof mount the C7 (and C8) use. This is also the updated, higher resolution second generation system. There was an earlier version that used a regular square mirror with a lower resolution display.

I'm going to have to find a creative way to mount the camera. It's in the center pillar of the spoiler on the Camaro, and it's mounted in the hatch above the glass on the C8.



I really want it up high on my car to help with the blind spots, but I'm not sure I'll be able to do a housing that looks decent. It'll be a lot easier to put it in my spoiler. We'll see. I'm going to try some tests with it taped to the outside of the car to see if there's much difference in the view from the different locations.

The cool part is, you could put this on virtually any car. It only has 3 wires. Switched 12v, ground, and a signal for the reverse lights. The camera signal and power go over a dedicated coax cable direct from the mirror. It doesn't require anything from the car's data network.

I just need to order a couple connectors to make a short adapter harness. The C7 uses a slightly different plug.

I'm hoping to get the test version rigged up around the same time I do my PDR install at the end of the month.

Is it auto dimming?

Not exactly. From what I've read in reviews of it on other cars, it's got software filtering that cuts down the glare. It's supposed to be even better than traditional auto dimming.
