I think the biggest problem is dealers who don't understand the difference between regular, production service programming and TSB fixes, and software based GM Performance upgrades. They didn't understand even when I worked at GM Techline in 2005-2008. I guess not much has changed. I'm really glad I was able to do mine myself.

They got it done, but when I showed up the service writers had that "deer in the headlights" look.

Kinda gives me a little bit of pause about getting a C8 Z06 from them, but their actual Corvette techs do seem to know what they are doing.

The C8 is supposed to have that OTA stuff, so hopefully this will be a non-issue going forward. Mandatory service updates will 'just happen' and paid upgrades will be done through an app or web browser.

I called it. When they said "under $60,000" I said it was going to be $59,995

It's still a great price.

Yeah, about $6000 more than my 2015 for comparable options. Not too bad. So my Z06 will probably be around $105k, I’m guessing. 1/3 price Ferrari that I can get fixed anywhere if I need to? Yup, sign me up.

2019 C7 starts at $55,900. That's really not a bad increase at all.

I haven't added it all up, but it looks like it'd be ~$75k to build the C8 equivalent of my car. It's not something I have any interest in doing, but it's nice to see they kept the price in the ballpark.

I really wonder when they're going to drop the info on the Z06. C8R starts racing in January. If they're going to go turbo, they'll have to talk about the Z06 around that time. People will only just be getting their base Stingrays by then.

A lot of people swear this car isn't 6 months late, but in light of that and a few other things, I call bullshit.

I need to see one of these in person. By the images I see online still not sold on it. Saw a BEAUTIFUL blue ZR1 yesterday. Made me kind of change my feelings on the C7.

Lucky! They aren't having a dealer day for it around here until November. I'm probably going to fly out for the LA Auto Show and visit with a friend out there. Guessing the Convertible will probably be there, but not the Z06.

I'm not spending >$75,000 on a car. Besides the money, I just don't have any interest in giving up my C7. It does everything I want and I've got it customized exactly how I want it.

The dealer day here is Sept 22. I'm going up to MI for the Woodward Dream Cruise. It's automotive Valhalla. GM has a big display there.

Just looked at the packages.. not sure it would be worth it for me to upgrade from 1LT to 2LT and then add the options I would want in.

Ok, quick thoughts on the car after seeing it in person.

It's a good looking car. Pictures really don't do it justice. I like it, but I still don't love it. The rear end is still a busy mess. I just don't think 'Corvette' when I look at it. But I still hope it does well, and I hope GM sells every one they build.

GM had a big display where you could see the car and all the options they're offering. Seats, color samples, etc. It's the same setup they're taking around to the dealers that paid for the road show. It was mobbed and I didn't even try to take a picture of the car in there. It was pretty cool.

However, I think I had a much better experience totally by accident. We came around the corner from where I had parked my car, and there were two C8 test cars just sitting on a side street. They really weren't there with the intent to show them, so the crowd was a lot thinner. I even had a little Corvette celebrity sighting. Harlan Charles, the Product Manager for Corvette and Camaro, was there just chatting with people. I didn't want to interrupt him, and I didn't have anything interesting to say anyway, so I didn't bother him. It was still cool.

While I was looking up inside the scoop on the silver car, this guy comes up behind me and asks if I had any questions. He's wearing a Corvette shirt and hat, so I assumed he was just some marketing shill. I was a little short with him. Then he says 'well I designed the cooling system on the car, so let me know if there's anything you'd like to know'. My whole attitude changed and we had a nice 10 minute chat

If the cooling system can live up to the claims he was making, it'll be pretty impressive.

One other nice thing is the silver car was missing the carbon trim panels in the engine bay. These were slightly rough looking test cars, so I wasn't surprised. Anyway, there's a huge void down alongside the engine, just below the exhaust manifolds. There should be plenty of room for turbos in there. If the leaks are true, that's where GM is going to put them on the Z06 anyway.

All in all, it was a really cool start to the day.
