Oem is thin sheet metal and super light. Just needs to be painted every 20 years. Not seeing the benefits of CF that will fog in 5 years.
Car is in ac and heat 90% of the time. No way it’s fogging that quick. And it’s not gonna be a high produced part. I like that.

On a side note when checking my wiper clearance the wipers worked...then didn’t. Damn etacs.

I'm on the list for one of those CF cowl covers too. Looks great!

How much are they? Dont get me wrong the CF effect looks cool, but im just not seeing the value in its long term purpose other than looks and more upkeep.

I think it was 350 plus shipping.

I could think of a lot better things to spend 350 on for a 3/S than that honestly.

I’m sure a lot of people say that. I wish I had an extra 350 toward air ride. But in all honesty it’s a very well done part that will not be many out there. I like that.

Yeah but you can say that about a lot of stuff for a 3/S these days as there aren't that many left. $350 could go towards air ride, Brembo brakes, etc.

Toward. But not covering. I’m also talking about spending as much on air ride that many spend on their cars.

For $350 I'll just come up with a long enough "tub" and hydrodip my stock one for the same look, but the could would be around 5% of the actual c.f. one.

Not a bad idea. Same outcome and functionality.

I’ve seen very nice hydro dipped CF...doesn’t even come close to how good this looks.

I've spent a lot more on parts that I ended up swapping out or not liking, or whatever.

I haven't really done much aesthetics-wise on my car, so a little CF here and there is a good thing to modernize the look a bit without going crazy.

My car sits in the garage 99.9% of the time anyways, so the CF isn't going to deteriorate from UV or anything like that.

You all are acting crazy over 350 bucks as well. I’ve had bar hopping nights I’ve spent that much....and remember half of it.

That’s a lot of $ spent on memory lapses that could have gone toward a GTR.

For the amount of it you actually see hydrodip looks just as good

Did this in the basement in a plastic tub

Hydro dip isn’t even close. I’ve seen the good stuff and the shit stuff, I hate it all.

And you did a good job but your joking yourself if you think it looks as good. It’s like saying you got laid when you jack off.

My point was more of getting the same effect for way less money on a part that is hardly seen.

Also, the finish on the intake was not smooth. With a smooth surface, like on the cowl cover that same dip will look even better than we did on my intake.
