Let us all shed a tear for poor Jason
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

If that is the final version then than angle makes the Vette look hideous! Looks like a bastardized Camaro from this angle, and whats with all the our of symmetry body lines? Yuck! :ick:

Yes, that's the final version.

That's why you get the convertible - unlimited headroom and visibility.

So on that note, what about these people saying it's not a convertible just because it has a folding hard top and buttresses behind the seats?

I'm pretty much the worst size. things are either made for people like Mike or Jeff. I'm either squished too or it's way to big. this is the worst when buying clothes.

This. If you don't like it, don't buy it. But a hard top convertible is way nicer and better looking than a soft top.
It's just like the people bitching there is no manual option. Don't get me wrong, I love driving both my vehicles that have manuals, but there is no question that a DCT is better for performance. People bitched when Ferrari did away with manuals, and it hasn't hurt their sales one bit.

On another note, there is the nascent benefit of being slightly less-interested or too other-directed to entertain having to fit* in a Vette.

Hey, if they want a ragtop convertible that doesn't have the bumps behind the seat (which you aren't going to see when driving anyways) - the C7 is still an awesome car. They can buy one of those. If they don't already have one - then nobody should care what they think because they probably aren't a buyer in the first place.
No manual... I dunno, I don't miss it. The 8-speed auto is great, and the DCT will be even better. This whole car was about letting go of the past and taking a chance to make something great. Why would they stick with an old-sk00l manual transmission? What's the advantage now?

Re: 2020 C8 Corvette Stringray
There's a phrase that goes "Nobody hates Star Wars as much as Star Wars fans".
I think you could easily apply that to the Corvette crowd too
I don't dislike it, but I'm also so happy with my C7 that I don't feel any need to replace it. Especially at ~$70k. I also want to make sure GM works the bugs out first. Everything on this car is brand new.

Yeah, I'm going to wait for at least the second year. I want a Z06 this time around, anyways. That makes it easier.

Re: 2020 C8 Corvette Stringray
Think there's any truth to this whole "Global B platform is unhackable" story? I thought for sure GM had done it with the ZR1, but they half assed it.
From what little I've been able to scrape together, they're going to encrypted network messaging and possibly automotive ethernet for at least part of the car. It's going to be interesting.

Re: 2020 C8 Corvette Stringray
It has me thinking one day I can own a legitimately fast MR car. Curious to see what maintenance costs are going to be. Wouldn't get a first year car even if I could afford one now.
Re: 2020 C8 Corvette Stringray
That's the exciting part about it. It really is a budget exotic. There's a lot of people on the forum who think this is gonna make some kind of dent in the high end of the market. I think they're just doing it to puff themselves up. I don't think Porsche, McLaren, etc will even notice. What I think it will do is really expand the market for this kind of car downward.
Hopefully GM gets it right from a performance and reliability standpoint.

Re: 2020 C8 Corvette Stringray
I think you've got it right.
Anyone who was in the market for a true exotic isn't going to change their minds over the Corvette. I don't think anyone is going to say "Well, I was going to get a Ferrari 488 - but that Corvette is so damn sexy." That kind of person is still going to get the Ferrari.
Porsche, however - they might have a few things to worry about. The C8 is very competitive against their 718 line for price/performance/features, and 911s it will probably be very competitive right up against the GT3 ($143,000+). Do people consider Porsche "exotic"? Not so sure...
They'll probably pull some market share from Porsche, Audi, BMW, Lexus, etc. - but probably not much of anything from McLaren, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc.
