Who only keeps a vehicle 3 years?

:whistles:

The red XJ is the only thing I have had more than just a couple of years.

Like others have said, I either get bored, or needs change too frequently for me. I have never had a chance to "settle down" so my needs/wants constantly change.

Well considering over 30% of new car sales are leases.. I'd say his butt is doing pretty good.

The CTS is the first car I've kept over 3 years. And it is about to go.
Yeah. I thought you were out.

Who only keeps a vehicle 3 years? I don’t know anyone except MI steve and maybe you. My dad puts stupid miles on for his work and keeps them more than 3 years. All the guys at work keep them more than 3. People I live around more than 3 years. Seriously think you pulled a coop statistic out of your butt and it’s wrong.

I sold cars for a year, and our databases with customer records would like to disagree with you. I don't know what they put in the water down there in TN, but damn dude, just admit you are wrong and move on.

If you drive average mileage of 15k per year you'd have to drive a car 20 years to get to 300k. To hit 500k it would take 33 years.

Most people who are going to put a lot of miles on their vehicle (i.e. 50k per year) are also going to maintain their car so yes it could still be very reliable at 500k and not have stuff falling apart .

So Chris - how do you like the new SUV? Plan to keep it more than 3 years?

I think he should keep it forever, and put as many miles on it as he can, just to spite Coop.

But then he will have to do basic maintenance so it will last

I really am not trying to be an ass hole. Im sorry it’s coming across that way. I really don’t know anyone personally who leases, don’t know anyone who changes cars that often and I live around some really rich people.

I will drop it though. I’m glad you finally found a vehicle.

It serves its purpose, we'll see how long I keep it for. Right now I'm planning some basic maintenance including brakes transmission fluid exchange and spark plugs. How long we keep it for depends on quite a few things. Including if I keep the Miata, or if we decide get a travel trailer.
Any other pics? Interior?
been lazy haven't taken any pictures since I polished the headlights before I even owned it lol

I'm not sure at this point.

My first car was a hand-me-down used '77 Toyota Corolla. It was small, and ugly, and brown (probably why it was ugly). When I got it, there was 140,000 miles on it already. Trust me, I seriously tried to kill that piece of shit - but it WOULD NOT DIE. Maintenance items I put in it: new starter, brake pads, usual oil changes (probably well beyond schedule).

When I eventually sold it to my stepmother's nephew it had 220,000 miles on it. The last time I saw it (quite a while ago, maybe around 2000) it had 425,000 miles on it and still going. I have no idea where it is now, but it might not surprise me to hear someone was still driving it.

I had an 82 corolla that was brown, we called it the poop shoot. It had a slipping trans and like 75k on it. That old Honda I had, bought it at 220k, head gasket went out at 230k and I fixed it and drove it to 250k but the trans slipped, leaked oil, went through 3 coil packs...just got me through a ruff time was all. I love Honda’s and Toyota’s. The celiacs I had I blew up a motor, don’t know how as I wasn’t beating on it, the 5th gear slider wouldn’t hold it in gear. The soldering on the heat and ac controls all broke so you had to redo those.

It was always something.
