You get a tax credit when you trade in your car. Say you trade in your $40k car for a $44k car. You only pay taxes on the remaining $4k.
Its not nearly as bad as you think.
Lucky.
Afaik we don't get that option here

Thats how it works everywhere AFAIK. Cause say a car is $44k, and the dealer gives you $40k for your trade, you are now only technically paying $4k for the car. If you owed say $42 on the car, that is added back to the loan, and your loan would be for $46k. You pay tax on what you payed for the car, not the amount you financed. At least that is how its worked on all the car deals Ive done.
For example, on this car I paid $36,995-$13,500=$23,500. so at 6.5% tax I pay just over $1500 in sales tax.

I mean, I get what you're saying since the RS shares a platform with the Focus (C-cars) and the platform is a budget car. But from all the reading I've done, it's not like the RS falls so short it's super noticeable and you don't get the car for it's creature comforts it would seem- it's the performance. And it more than hangs with whatever the similar trim of the Golf is; some people went so far as to assert that the Golf is a piggy.
I guess I can see what everyone is saying, Audi/BMWs do have that great quality but man the gap isn't 20k dollars wide imo. But that's from my limited point of view.

Greg isn't saying it's a perfomance gap. He just likes the touchy feely VW interior vinyl and the tighter panel gaps better than the harder plastics and slightly looser body in the Ford.

I drove an hour ONE WAY 11 times a week while in high school. One vehicle in 4 years. Whats the point in trading and trading and killing value in a brand new car? Get a low mileage 2000 something accord and rack up the mileage on it and enjoy your low mile nice vehicle.

Done that for years. Finally at a point where I earn enough where I feel I deserve a nice DD and can afford it.
Its the depreciation thats the killer.
Yeah it varries from car to car but it seems the Civic Type R has the lowest depreciation followed by the Golf R. The Miata is the worst..... lost my ass out on that car.

Re: Is It My Turn Now?
Yea, buying a new car year after year is not economically feasible unless its some 1 off, low production exotic. Even then its a gamble.
