Wow! Why do car makers do that?! Sure they look good but no reason to make it stupid to replace tires. That is something I love about my crv. 15 inch wheels. Man tires are cheap. Lol

They only had the 22" wheels till 2014. Once they started putting the 2.7L in, they started coming with 20" standard, 21" optional. Guess people didn't like the 22" wheel comfort

When we test drove the explorer sport and the Edge sport side by side with their turbo motors there was a clear winner. The Edge! Great size and surprisingly nimble on the road. Explorer was noticeably heavier and torque steer.

Explorer feels way roomier inside though. One issue I had with the Edge in particular was the roof line where it meets the front windshield. Sounds weird but when I adjusted the car to me, it was really annoying where that roof line ended. Like it was just in my line of sight kind of thing.

You said in your rental car one that you like the suburban. Have you looked into newer Tahoes? A little smaller but you can get into a newer used one with decent mileage in the low to mid $30k range pretty easily.

I would love one. Would own one in a heart beat. But to get all the functions it would have to be newer and out of my price range. Sadly.

How new? You can get one with around 50k miles and 4x4 on it that is 2015 or newer (current generation) for about 35k through carmax depending on trim level.

And carmax seems to overprice a bit.

Might be able to haggle a regular dealer down to closer to your 30k target.

So you could probably find something close to your price range if you really looked hard enough. Won't be new, but you can get a certified one so decent warranty.

good luck, haggling on a used car isn't what it used to be. Margins on used cars are razor thin now, and the dealers don't get a kick back from the MFG for selling them. Between that and demand it's part of why the used car market is priced so high right now.

I would want that cyl cut option. I thought that was a newest generation thing but haven’t gotten to look it all up yet.

GM has been dabbling in cylinder deactivation for about the last 10 years (assuming you don't go back and look at the horrible 8-6-4 engine they did in the 80's ). Their more modern versions are pretty impressive. Now the ECU will rotate through the cylinders it cuts to deliver a smoother better drive. The biggest thing holding me back from picking up the Colorado is I'm really concerned how the interior will hold up. GM has a history of control surfaces flaking off and looking like trash after 2-4 years.

My 2013 Volt with 60k on it still looks like new when it comes to control surfaces. Not one is faded/worn away.

Interesting, their trucks in my experience have their HVAC controls rub off way to easily.

Might be different in their trucks? Do you have experience with newer ones? Such as 15+ when they entered their current generation?

The CTS is a '11 with 117K. Still looks pretty good. Driver's seat has a couple of worn spots but nothing horrible. Frankly, I haven't taken that good care of it since I had the house due to lack of space to do it.. and interest.

I'm just basing it off of what I've seen while shopping. :d ontknow: It's good to know the more modern ones seem to be better.
