Of course, but it's not easy. You have to bring basically all emissions from the donor car. So basically if you can't get the stock manifolds from the donor to fit you can't do it.

Yep. And if the engine you want to install isn't from a truck.... No go

Yup I've looked into it and by far the best way to go about it in CA is an LS E-Rod setup as it's carb approved out of the box. However it's costs are sky high and then the needed conversion parts.

If you get it all to plumb into your existing setup I’m not sure they would even notice.

So the guy wants me to come drag it out of his garage tonight. His keys are out of town and he’s not sure of where the title is. Says I don’t have to pay until he finds it. Lol

I’m like no thanks. I need keys to steer and the title to be legal.

They do a visual inspection and that's where you fail. If you're just pull out and putting in the same engine it's fine. However if you want to replace it with something else you have to have it BAR'ed.

Update:

New title just showed up yesterday. I tell him I want to come by and try to crank over the motor, so I know how bad the damage is, and hopefully take the truck off his hands. Radio silence for 20 min then i get a phone call. Guy proceeds to freak out over the phone and tell me he doesn't want me to attempt to turn "his" motor over dry. I try to assure him that I wont be doing any damage to his engine, but hes hearing none of it. Yells at me and tells me he doesn't want to sell it to me anymore. "click".

2 Hours go by and I text him back. Tells me to call his son, as he is out of town, to finalize the deal. Says I have to push the truck on my trailer myself with no help. Im like...Ok.

Im not sure I want to go through all of this crap. Sucks these are just so hard to find in good shape though.

It's worth $500 even if the motor is locked solid. I paid $500 for my red Ram 50, mainly for the transmission and transfer case. Yours is a steal at that price.
Go get a come-along from Harbor Freight and load that thing up.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Once you pay him and get it out of his garage. Start the motherfucker. It’s your car at that point. Lol. No need for a come along.

You’re telling me. I feel the people I find keep getting worse and worse. Mitsubishi owners are ass hats.

That’s is the only reason I am buying it, but if the engine is toast I wanted to know ahead of time and possibly use as a negotiating tool. This truck still needs work as it’s not perfect and has a lot of miles.

Tell me about this red ram you picked up.

I bought this and parted it out last year. I'm pretty sure I posted it in my thread. 91, V6, long bed. Farm truck. Literally pulled it out of a mud hole on a farm. Engine didn't run (not that I cared) and the whole thing was beat to shit.

If it’s knocking throw some auto trans fluid in it to move around. You will be good for a little bit.

Yeah, it was for backup and to have as a rebuildable core.

Wish you would have pulled the harmonic balancer and its keyway. I shredded mine of Blue. :(
