How many are there? Looks like ASA says 5, I swear there's two more hidden somewhere? I'm not at home right now to check.

Code: Select all

MF241228	M6x22	qty:5
It looks like they're small and were used on 2G Eclipse spark plug covers, oil coolers on the trucks, and the EGR support bracket on the Endeavor.

If you're not in a big hurry to go rummaging around junkyards, I'll pull a couple of mine out and check them when I get back tomorrow. Those are small enough that you should be able to get them at a decent hardware store.

The more I think about it, those can't be right. They're too small. I'll get back to you.

Yea they are pretty small and can't be too long. Much shorter than the rest by far. I must confirm that I'm missing both of the longest 2 bolts that fit in the center. That sucks!

I was right the first time. They really are that small. The middle 5 bolts are M6x22 and the outer two are M6 studs with nuts and lock washers.

Code: Select all

MS401104	M6x20 stud	qty:2
MF450494	M6 washer	qty:2
MF430064	M6 nut qty:2

Update:

New intake manifold from a Kia Sorento. Im actually debating this intake vs the 95 Montero SR intake. They are nearly identical. Kia appears to have slightly larger long runners. Will see.

Nice thing is that its dual runner for low end torque and high end hp that fits under the hood. I must say that the truck really comes alive with this manifold. The previous long runner from the 74 Monti was great at low hp, but just couldn't breathe up top. Its like a large restrictor was taken off the motor. Now she just wants to hum in the upper rpms.

Gut it before the shaft bushings fail and it starts dropping butterfly screws.

I did a Kia and you can't even tell.

I heard about that problem, so i torqued the screws and put a nice dimple on the ends with a punch so they dont come out easily.

Either way im not convinced this is my final intake ill install. Somehow I think I will have the original eclipse intake fitted, but in a custom way. ;)

This works great for now.

I thought the firewall was the big hurdle. What’s happening?

Eh. He could make brackets. Just either hasn’t or too lazy.

Firewall is only an issue if you've got a big solenoid sticking off the back of the engine like I do.

Time for an update.

Been working on some small details over the last couple weeks. I installed the rear disc axle from the 97 sport a while back, but had no way of tying in the emergency brakes due them being different. I had to adapt my existing setup to accept the new. Took most of Saturday, running the longer lines and plumbing them into the stock locations. Had to weld brackets and all sorts of jazz. Finally I finished and polished up the brakes.

Image

Sunday I wanted to tackle the bench seat. Its in good shape for its age but I wanted it out. Dont get me wrong I like the bench for short rides and the occasional extra seat room, but im sure Jeff can attest to how uncomfortable it is. Imagine sitting on a trampoline that is wore out and sags to no end. Thats what its like sitting in it. Now just imagine moderately fast turns. Those will send you rolling into the next seat.

Image

What goes in? Well, i picked up a pair of Hyundai Tiberon seats a couple months back and thought they would be a nice fit. I liked how minimalist they were. Not a bunch of plastic flashing, not high sitting, and great ergonomics. Now, in order to fit the truck I needed a very special set of rails only found on 4x4 trucks with bucket seats. I have been waiting several years for this particular set to pop up somewhere, but no dice. I did however come along the bucket rails for a 2wd. Only problem with them as that they are made to tie into the floor and not the larger tunnel like the 4x4 models.

Luckily my Ram 50 already had the correct rails, and i was able to figure out that the 2wd rails could be made to fit with some minor cutting. You can see how they look before I made the cuts.

Image

After the cut and mocked up. Interesting fact: the cab was set up with threaded bucket seat mounts from the factory. They even give you fresh new bolts for both rear inner mounts!

Image

From there I had to cut off the existing Tiberon rails as they were over an inch wider spaced and didnt have the proper geometry. After finding the proper offset I then welded the 2wd rails to the frame. This process took the longest and was the most cumbersome. Anyways here is the final product.

Looks great. All you need now is a center console. Have you seen where people were modding Acura Integra consoles to fit?

Now thinking about it, have you seen anyone install this on a 4x4 model? There is a pronounced hump at the front of the tunnel making it not level or straight.

Good point. I have not.

I wonder if I could copy mine in MDF or something?
