I have Race Wars coming up on April 8th.

Short list before the event, just inspection, throw in some new plugs, install the beautiful April Best throttle body, and detail the heck out of her.

I've got a bit of a list of things to do on my green Stealth. But, I have someone coming tomorrow to look at it and possibly buy it! At least they know I need to take care of those things before they take delivery. It will be the end of an era for that car :/. 16 years of ownership.

I was so glad when I got rid of mine. Felt like an anchor off my neck.

I'm starting over with a VR4 build. At least it will have additional value when it's done haha. But, actually driving the car daily is nice. No animosity towards the car. It's awesome. But it has to go to make room for the new one. I guess I could see it being a burden if you just never drove it and it was broken, but I daily mine.

There's days I miss the Spyder. But then I remember the dread I felt every time I cycled the roof.

I'd think you would be confident enough in your roof knowledge to not worry. Honestly, those tops are pretty damn reliable. I seem to be the only remaining shop that fixes them anymore. Got one getting shipped up from Florida next week with a top issue. If they produced more of those, I could stay in business just by fixing the tops. Most are fixed in 10-15 minutes Lol

It wasn't my work I lacked confidence in. It was the ability to get parts if something went wrong. I dodged a big bullet by getting the last piece of glass in existence for that thing.

I'm not Neo. :p

lol. I've been working on a lot of alternatives for parts. I should have most of the major components available brand new soon. But, glass and weatherstripping are still a major issue.

I really can’t wait to drive my car with both o2’s Working.

Someone who knows more about how the ecu opporates, what happens when it doesn’t see an o2 sensor reading?

It runs slightly rich at idle and part throttle.

This is not going to be some drastic change.

Hmmmm. So this isn’t why it didn’t like me turning up the boost then.

Weather starting to break here finally. Actually went and helped my cousin pull the engine from his 8th gen Si today to put a turbo kit on it. Helping him will help me get in the garage faster so I can get my engine and trans in and get the buckets welded in so I can go to bolting all the body bits back on. Hoping to have it roadworthy by summer. Would like to have it painted by August and possibly drive it to the Shootout.

Next plan after that is to start on the TT engine and be boosted by this time next year. We'll see what the wallet allows there.

Pressure tested, caught a couple leaks, new battery, and put the stuff in to clean up the car tomorrow at work. Its gonna be its first drive since the new shifter/radio/o2 sensors and past winter!!!

Excited

Son of a dog.

I must be off a tooth on the crank. It just had very diminished power...so much that it didn’t want to climb hills unless it was in higher rpm. I made it less than a 1/4 if a mile and I had to turn around and take it home...then going down the hill I had no brake pressure. So this must affect vacuum which lead me to timing off. When I started it I had -20in though.

I don’t know. This car needs to run right.

Just checked the timing. Dead on.

I knew I was, I triple checked it before I put everything back together.

The problem.

Car had no power down low. Like going up a hill I had to press in the clutch, rev the engine and then let it go in the same gear. Also shuttering down low like when you shift to early.

Things I did between it running fine and not:
Redid the timing
Fixed o2 sensor in harness
Changed the oil
New shifter

Possible thoughts.

I did have Hans help figuring out my preset timing gears, maybe I got it wrong?

I was yanking at my wiring harness a lot, maybe my maft wiring came lose?

I didn’t unplug any spark plugs, I didn’t take off the plenum, I did undo a couple intercoolers but I pressure tested.
A new shifter wouldn’t cause this would it? Like maybe it selected the wrong gear? Can a gear not be all the way in? I don’t think I picked the wrong gear as I went up my very steep driveway and it was having problems, no way it even took off on that hill in 3rd.

The car starts and idles nicely. I don’t understand.

Thinking out loud here on these cam gears.

https://3swarehouse.com/product/gzp-preset-cam-gears/
There is the same picture I had to go off of.

Each mark on the teeth has 15 teeth between the factory and the adjusted.

I could have picked the wrong one. To go with as mine was not labeled.

Does it matter? I am thinking it does. If it does...could that be my issues or would that cause interference?

A part of me wishes it was one tooth off on the crank so I would have an answer. Now I have to hunt around.

Those holes and marks are far enough off that I don't think it would run at all if you were off that much.

Compression test to verify?

It idles so smooth that that’s what I though. It wouldn’t just be one miss. It would be at least 3. I am pretty sure I got them correct.

I’m confused.
