The saga that will be Coop living with a retired HMMWV.

The way I look at it is I could do everything to my truck that was that one and have some left over. I think the ones going for around 6k are good deals. The ones that are more are just not worth it. They are still a humvee, and I still havnt actually got it registered for the street yet and I bought it in late June!

I do wish mine had a hard top that was easy to remove. I do not look forward to replacing mine every so often.

If I had some acreage, I'd jump on buying one just for the fun of it. But for something that's semi practical, my Mighty Max makes way more sense.

Finally got to use the key I made. I'm very happy with it. It lines up perfectly, it looks pretty stock, and most important the humvee starts. Lol.

I want a thinner nut though. I got the distance from the ignition perfect. But the nut is just too thick. The factory metal one is perfect and the one that came with it is huge and plastic. I want a thinner metal one. I just don't have a way to figure it out. I have a great thing to figure out bolts on my vehicle. But this is bigger and different.

Any suggestions?

Plastic, why not just sand it down? Look for a "jam" nut if you can figure out thread and pitch.

father-in-law came over the other day, he drove convoy's in iraq. He drove a humvee and also what I would call a 6x6 but he had another name for it. Gave me a lot of info about the vehicle. He had a lot of stories as well it was cool for him to open up as apparently he doesnt talk about it. He even got a metal for designing some hinges that let the armored doors open and close correctly.

A couple cool things, above each wheel there is a "TP" with a number. He asked his son what that meant. Well his son guessed "tennessee patrol" which is better than what I would have guessed. Apparently its "tire pressure". Which is way more than what I put in them, so maybe thats the issue with it bouncing. He really enjoyed it haha.

Also the plastic nut didn't hold the ignition when I turned the key hard...tried to tighten it more and it stripped. So that nut is deff back on the top of my list. At cars and coffee there was another humvee, he had a radio set up and everything, very cool. I posted up trying to find him. Would love to pick his brain.

Nope and I thought he was gonna say mrap. It was some other term. He said he liked driving it the best. It has an 18 speed, sounded huge like an over the road hauler.

I'm just thinking out loud here about the fan. The fan is a hydrolic unit that is controlled by something called a Cadillac valve.

My fan turns from the moment it's in till I turn it off. I never hear it "kick on" like people on the forum, but from having similar fans on the fire truck it looks like it's moving the correct speed. The issue I have is that my temp gauge reads 200-220. People who say they unplug their Cadillac valve say it runs like 180-200. But that brings me back to I don't know if the gauge works properly. I wish there was an easy way to test the temp minus hooking up a different gauge. I really don't want to be overheating this motor.

Lots of reading and posting. Finally figured out the fan is not engaging. So I either have a temp sensor near the thermostat bad or the valve is bad.

Just have to figure out which.

well they also say my fan should move when everything is off, mine doesnt....it doesnt move at all.

IF the tstat isn't opening the temp sensor still sees a high temp since it's on the motor side.

If my gauge says 200....should I be able to touch my radiator? Just doesn't feel hot.
