I know I'm the one who pushed to sell the car, but holy shit this pisses me off. I put a shitload of time and work into that car.
I guarantee this idiot overboosted it or some shit.
The same shit is probably going to happen once I sell my Stealth. It's running really good right now. If my Audi hadn't spoiled me so bad, I'd almost consider keeping it. I go and get it decent again and some clown will probably just fuck it up like this.
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

Part of me is tempted to offer him a straight trade for my Stealth. As is for both cars. He can go from needing to fix an engine to needing to fix a coolant gauge and a few other cosmetic things.
The other part of me is screaming "noooo, you're so close to getting out!"

Listen to your second reasoning. He sounds like the smart one

We paid just under 6 for the car in better mechanical condition than it is now. It was cosmetically a mess and the roof didn't work, but we drove it home.

Hmmm, may see if he'll take 3500. It would be a good bit of driving for me to come from TX. Y'all keep me updated on it. I'll definitely get it if it looks like he's gonna scrap it. I haven't been on here in a while but I'll get notifications through FB (Miles McCaa)
Let Vira and I know if you need any help locally. I've got the whole long build thread posted here, so that should give you a good idea of the car's condition when we sold it. I doubt he'll go for $3500, but stranger things have happened.
I SO do not want to see that car parted and/or junked. The entire reason we bought the car, and why I spent months working on it, was to prevent that from happening.

Yeah he will part it before 3500...or at least could and make money. He might counter you with 5 or 5500 though.
Jeff if he trashed your spider and that pisses you off...why would you try and swap your current stealth for that? He will trash it too. Most don't understand the hardship that can be owning a 3/s.

I know there's not a snowballs chance in hell he'd take it but one can hope. I've gotta get through Falcon training and square up a few things first. I'm sending the VR4 to paint around mid Dec so I'll have a free spot in the garage. If he still has it by then I'll see if he can take 5 for it.

Kids really shouldn't be allowed to own these cars. The PO of my VR4 did some pretty stupid things to it. I think it was his first car, dip shit tried to wire up his own alarm system. I've gotta find the pic but I pulled out an ungodly amount of wires all in the drivers side footwell. It was also driven through a ditch. Passenger window was being held up by a coat hanger that was wrapped all through the door frame.
For the most part it's back to where it should be. Just needs the front AA and a passenger side window motor.
Found the pic:

Yeah, now that I've slept on it, I'm starting to calm down. It still upsets me, but I don't want to get back into that car. I want to get down to just one...Vira's.
I think the universe was sending me a message this morning. I went to move the Stealth so I could get the Audi out. I rolled down the drivers window because it was all wet. When I went to roll it back up, I heard grinding and then it refused to budge in either direction.
Fortunately I have spare regulators. But it's still really annoying, and I don't have the time to fix it right now.

Yea don't get too attached to them. It's tough but you have to realize that the $ you get handed officially breaks all obligation and emotional ties. Just have to move on.
With most other cars it wouldn't be so bad. But the Spyders had at least a little historical and technical significance.

It was 100% stock when we sold it. The only non-OE parts on it were the wheels and the plug cover plate. I even put a factory radio in it.

The head lift could just be bad head gaskets. If the gaskets weren't holding and you push boost then it could overflow his coolant tank and he think he had head lift when just needed a head gasket. I more think people just say head lift after they get to reading.
