I was more interested in the grille and the flares.
Looks like it was done by some Norwegian company back in the day.

I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

It looks like they have made that grill specifically for the off road lights. Fenders look like the ones i picked up. Not bad at all.

I may or may not have hauled our 7 ft tall tree home last month.

Re: This time I really have gone too far. '92 Mighty Max
It was a used double oven, similar to this.

Her old one died. We bagged a replacement off Craigslist.
I had to tell them I was nervous about backing up their steep ass driveway because I was worried my parking brake wouldn't hold
We were in a nice part of town and apparently "no, let me use my two-wheeler because my truck is old and decrepit" isn't an acceptable answer.
Ended up having Vira sit in the truck just in case.
I've played with the adjusters multiple times. I still can't get it to hold with confidence on steep inclines.
Besides that, it's great

Awe vira and Max time!
That is quite the payload for that truck. What's next, 99 montero axle tossed in the back?

Gotta find one first.Steve wrote:What's next, 99 montero axle tossed in the back?
I've got OEM KYB shocks coming from RockAuto ($60 after mail-in rebate). I need to test fit the 31" tires so I can decide if I want to jump on the $100 off deal NTB is doing.
That's all concurrent with a suspension rebuild, interior refurb, and the omnipresent Stealth problem.

I thought you would have test fitted those by now.

Re: This time I really have gone too far. '92 Mighty Max
Been busy with other things. I messed up my shoulder roughhousing with my nephews on Sunday, which didn't help.

So apparently the Montero gold mine is down near Springfield, MO.

Wow, lots of good material there. Can get your tranny on too.

Re: This time I really have gone too far. '92 Mighty Max
I know. It's the tranny I'm bummed out about. I'm hoping one pops up closer. It'd be a minimum 5 hour round trip. It would be do-able if I didn't have so much else going on.

I've driven way more than 5 hour round trip for a vehicle part.

I dont think they are too hard to come by. I honestly wouldn't make the trip unless I was looking for something to do.

Re: This time I really have gone too far. '92 Mighty Max
Finally had time to do a test fit on the Montero rims and the 31" tires.
Out with the 80s, in with the 90s. Big improvement IMO.

None of the tires match. They're all shit. They're heavily and unevenly worn, and one has a bulge in the tread. None of them are even acceptable as a spare. So I didn't drive it far. But as best I can tell, nothing is rubbing. The one I put on the passenger front is a pretty aggressive tread (what's left of it) and gets pretty close to the body when you turn the wheel. But I think it's ok. What do you guys think?

The one on the drivers side is much less aggressive and has about 2 fingers worth of room at the same point in the turn.
I'm probably going to go with Cooper Discoverer RTXs. NTB has a $100 off deal right now.

Looking so much better now. Actually looks like a capable 4x4. I think you will love those wheels. I sure do. Let me know if they vibrate at speed.

Re: This time I really have gone too far. '92 Mighty Max
It'll be a bit. Right now it's virtually undrivable. It feels like going over speed bumps even on a smooth road. It's BAD. So I have to swap the other wheels back on for now. NTB won't have the new tires in stock until next week.
