You're looking at one for 15.4

I'll give you mine for the low low price of 7995. Act now. The headers are carb certified

That one was worth maybe $12.5 max.

A 2nd gen 5.0 explorer is worth like $3000 max

I figure my Miata and trailer are about 5000 together so everything above that is security and headroom.

Yeah. It'll take a lot of generic body and suspension lift stuff.

Spent some quality time with the power washer today.

Image

Soaked the engine in Simple Green, then blasted it off. There's no rust. No corrosion. Aside from some sludge on the side of the block, this thing is clean. I blew a shitload of mud off the underbody. No sign of rust or even any significant damage.

Not bad for >185K hard miles.

Image

No rust here either.

Got the new tailgate on, and I pushed out the worst dent by hand. I'll clean it up some more and rattle can it black later. I also put the new taillight in, and made sure all the bulbs work.

The screeching noise was a power steering belt that was missing half of it's ribs. So that explains the noise and the power steering flakiness. I've got a new one on hand already. $5. Brake pads and shoes will be in tomorrow.

I figure I'll do the brakes tomorrow, and try to get the speedometer working. Then it should be ready for inspection and licensing.

I also priced out a clutch. $140  Can't beat that.

The sludge on the side of the block is either valve covers or the SOHC head gasket oil seepage. My original engine started doing that around 120k miles. The replacement engine was around that same mileage when it was parked and was doing the same thing.

That is one good looking dodge! Nice what a little soap and water can do. Hows the interior? Bed looks solid underneath. Bet you can pop out that bed dent too.

The interior is pretty bad. My shop vac is wheezing pretty bad, so I haven't been able to vacuum it out properly. The dash is sun bleached. I'll paint it later. I might do it black and gray two tone, sort of like I did with my Stealth. I pulled the clip on fan off. It took a chunk of the dash pad with it since the last guy used some kind of adhesive foam to glue it on.

I'm heading to the junkyard tomorrow to get my $5 for fee for the old tail gate. While I'm there I'm going to grab a few more bits from the gold Ram. Hood latch and release, a trim piece for the passenger's door, and a few other small things. I'm also going to try to grab those Rodeo seats. The seats really aren't a priority, but I want to jump on the clean, untorn set I found. Who knows when nice ones will come around again?

One other thing I nailed down is the exhaust leak. The flex section is bad. I'll probably just order a new one from Vibrant and put it on myself. It's going to delay the inspection a few days though.
