Snapped an updated pic of "the projects". Parked nice and close for easy tear down. Just for you Coop. ;)

I also found the loud clunking culprit in my steering. Idler arm is on its way out. Hopped on ebay and complete new units start at $10. Not bad...maybe not good either. lol.

I do like trucks. It would be my only personal one at tbe moment unless you cou t the montero.the batteries to get recycled. 191 lbs which came to $28. It's at least gas money.

Pulled the intake on the montero. Man was that a bitch. It's as if they tossed everything on top and picked it all in the back along the firewall. Anyways got it off, poured some oil down each of the runners. Then put the breaker bar on it and turned it 360*. Each time it turned even easier now by hand. Put a little more oil down each runner and cranked it over. Spun well except for what felt like a slightly sticky cylinder. Put a little more oil in and buttoned it up. Cranked it over and it wanted to start but theN it stopped abruptly. Tried to crank over by hand firtst then foot. No go. :(

Looks like the inevitable. Teardown to follow.

So today was a beautiful day for a walk in the park junkyard. 65ish, sunny, light breeze...glorious.

I found the Max, and there wasn't much worth taking. The dash and all associated parts were gone. The rear view mirror plastic was turning into powder every time I touched it. But the door panels looked nicer than most of the 3S cars I see

Image

So I grabbed the handles. $6 for everything after the discount. I don't care if you like them, I'm sending them to you anyway  They're not flawless, but they're pretty damn good.

Image

There was an 02 full size Montero there, but it was trashed. Engine and ECU were gone, harness was all hacked up. I did grab the dash clock though, just for fun.

I also saw this. Dodge Raider "convertible"

Image

V6, 4WD. Looks like the same kind of engine bay room as the Max. The only ones I can find for sale are either nice survivors or in worse shape than this junkyard truck. It looks like it'd be a hell of a fun little winter beater. I grabbed the ECU out of it just for shits and giggles.

Got out the door for $30 for everything. 4 door handle pieces, a large LCD clock / MFD display, and an 89 Raider V6 ECU.

Hit up the local yard today. Grabbed a full size montero wiring harness, or at least most of it. Lol. Probably missed some important parts but those were wedged being the heater box. Also grabbed another steering wheel.

Spent the rest of the day cleaning up the truck and fixing a few broken things. She looks even better now. I'll post picks later. Need to fix timing too.

So I'm in Sau Paulo Brazil for thanksgiving this year visiting my in-laws and it turns out Mitsubishi is still very much alive and active here. Seeing the Triton and Padjero every where here. Too bad I don't have a license or I would take one out for a test drive.

Haven't seen one single Mirage.

Two door 4x4 Padjero brand new. Take that price and divide it by 4 to see how much it costs in USD

You're in Brazil, and you're looking at cars? Forget that shit. Get out and see the city and people.

Anyway, that little 2D Pajero is awesome. They even offer it with the 3.8 MIVEC down there. I so wish we had that up here.

Steve...

Dunno if there's anything on here you can use, but I thought I'd toss it out there.

Is the auto any good or do you really only want the manual.

I'm wondering just how much of the Montero driveline could be carried over. Get an air locker and the whole drivetrain from a 96-ish Montero SR. It'd probably do nicely in a little toy truck that weighs a lot less.

So you are saying it doesn't matter and just find a blown up 96 with air lockers for under a grand and steal it's stuff huh.

Kinda. I'm thinking it'd make a tough little truck to take the running gear from a Montero, and couple it with a 3.8L MIVEC built out of a hybrid of Endeavor, Eclipse and Montero parts
