Alright I have few minor problems with my car that is starting to annoy me and before I look into it further I would like some of your opinions.
1 - Recently(like 3 weeks ago) i noticed that even with the car off, the clutch doesn't feel as hard and it doesnt engage all the way up top like it should when the car is off. I wonder if its simply a matter of adjusting the pedal(which im not sure how to do) or if my slave is slowly starting to die.
2 - Its also been getting harder and harder to get it into gear when i first fire it up. Reverse is almost impossible and 1st is very hard. I have to play around with it alot. Once i get it into gear and drive around a bit its not as hard but when i come to a full stop and put it in neutral its fairly hard to get it into first but not nearly as hard as it is when I first start up the car. Do you think my tranny fluid is low(previous owner said it has a very minor leak), shifter linkage interfearance? Anything else I should be looking for?

Re: Hydraulic clutch and shifting issues
clutch issue not tranny fluid
sound like master cylinder bad prob, not slave, if pedal has the issues coming up, I believe.
I put new slave on my Conquest, then was having this issue, new master ended up fixing.
had/done similar master/slave on various cars
check clutch fluid level (dot 3 brake fluid fill)

Re: Hydraulic clutch and shifting issues
yea it still have a good amount of fluid in it. I was thinking the same thing. Today, I topped off my tranny fluid and I'm still having the same problems. It's starting to get even worse. I can barely even do a 3-4 gear shift
. I really hope its the slave and not the master(alot easier job) but i doubt it. How much work is involved to do the master?
Re: Hydraulic clutch and shifting issues
Haven't done a 3/S master myself.
I did a master re-build kit on my Conquest (even more work anyway) and that fixed it.

Re: Hydraulic clutch and shifting issues
you will neeed a custom wrench to do it. By custom I mean it needs to bend down 90 degrees almost in order to get the hardline off the master. I bought a flare wrench heated it up and then bent in a tube. Worked like a charm. Now I can do it in under and hour minus bleeding the system

I was able to replace my master cylinder in about 2-3 hrs my first time around. I didn't make any special tool to do it either, but the 90* wrench would have made it a lot easier. It's really not as bad as it sounds.

Yeah, doing the master cylinder really isn't too bad. I've done it 4 times on my car alone
I didn't use any special tools either, but the 90* wrench definitely would have helped.

Re: Hydraulic clutch and shifting issues
the 90* wrench is an absolute IMO. It makes life so easy, and it is seriously a 5 dollar wrench and 3 minutes of heat. Well worth it to me. I couldn't get a good wrench on that line to get it off. I could, but then I couldn't turn it to get it loose. Forget that shit. I made a wrench.
That part is the worst of it. Reinstall is easy, adjust the pedal to about where the old one was and then fine tune it later. Bleeding it can be trying, but once you get fluid to the slave, it is easy
