About time.

Post by Duck Vader »

Autozone just called. My fuel pump assembly just came in. Looks like I know what I am doing tonight.

I have to drop the tank, replace the pump and everything, then put it all back up.

I hope this solves my problem and it is not something else fuel related. The pressure would not stay constant.

If this does not solve it, what else could it be?

Cut a hole in your cargo area :D

Good luck that is definately not a fund job. Fuel pressure regulator could be a culprit as well. Also make sure its properly grounded, ive seen that cause problems and people buying unneeded pumps.

The regulator is part of the set-up I bought. It has almost 100,000 miles on it now, so I figure just replace everything while I am in there.

Like sublime said make sure the pump has a good ground, sand down the area a bit if need be. The only other thing outside of the regulator that I can think of at the moment is if something is in the fuel lines, which isn't very common at all since your fuel is filtered a bit before it goes into the pump.

I was going to replace all this tonight, but it is raining. I will do it tomorrow night or Saturday.

Well the weather looks pretty good today, so I am going to put all this on tonight. I will also probably put on my new decals as well.

If it works and this solves my problem, I am going to order my new exhaust.

I worked on this today. It was easy for the most part. Getting the tank down took forever though. In total, it took me about 5 hours to do it all, but that was with about 3 1/2 just trying to get the damn tank down. Now I can't get the smell of gas out of my nose. I fired her up and she purred like a kitten....a kitten with a respiratory infection that is. (Damn exhaust)

I am going to take it out for a spin tomorrow to see how well it drives. I hope this solved my problem. If it did, my next job is the exhaust.
