(CNN) -- A high-speed car accident in Florida has left the teenage son of wrestling star Hulk Hogan seriously injured and a companion in critical condition late Sunday, police said.
TV footage shows a person injured in Nick Hogan's car crash being treated in an ambulance.
Nick Bollea, 17, was the driver of a Toyota Supra that went out of control while driving at a "high rate of speed" about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, said Wayne Shelor, a spokesman for the Clearwater police in Clearwater, Florida.
The car "inexplicably left the roadway," jumped across a raised median and slammed into a palm tree just east of downtown, Shelor said.
"It destroyed the car," he said.
Firefighters had to extract Bollea and his passenger, whose identity was not immediately released, from the wreckage. Both were flown to a hospital in nearby St. Petersburg, Florida, Shelor said.
"They're both down there. Nick's father is down there," he said. Watch Hulk Hogan on the scene with the mangled car »
Hulk Hogan, one of the top professional wrestlers of the 1980s and 1990s, is now featured in the VH1 reality show "Hogan Knows Best." His son, wife Linda and daughter Brooke regularly appear on the show.
One episode documented the son's interest in a type of high-speed car racing known as "drifting."
Shelor said there was no evidence of drag racing or "drifting" in Sunday's wreck.
Police said Bollea -- known to viewers as "Nick Hogan" -- was not as seriously hurt as his passenger, who was listed as critical.
Shelor said the wreck forced police to shut down mile-long Court Street, the main east-west road through central Clearwater, as they investigated the accident.
"I will have this road closed for a minimum of four hours," he said. "It was a spectacular wreck."

What I think bothers me the most is the attention this gets cause he is the son of a celebrity. How many other family have this happen everyday and it be an even worse crash but they get no attention? Fuck the media.

From what I'm hearing everywhere else Nick is in critical condition.

Whew whoo, like said above, People wreck and die everyday but there not in the news. They said it was a spectacular wreck. Well at least when he gets better the supra will sell on ebay for at least 10k.

Shelor said there was no evidence of drag racing or "drifting" in Sunday's wreck.
Who believes this?

Sucks that he got into such a bad accident, cause I wouldn't wish harm on anyone, but hopefully this will get his ego in check about how badass of a driver he is. Cause sending that Viper into the wall apparently didn't do it for him.
Hope everyone ends up ok, for their family's sake.

Who believes this?[/quote] I believe the drifting part, somewhat. However, a 1 mile stretch of road.... you know he had that car floored.

No shit, I never understood how over privileged people could wreck a car and then never learn from it. Knew a kid in HS, had a mustang mommy and daddy bought him. Had an accident and almost killed another kid... in the parking lot of the school. He was showing off and lost control, ran this kid on his bike over. Kid spent 6 months recovering... 2 days later jerky boy was back at school doing burnouts in the parking lot with his new camaro.

Shame the passenger got hurt, but I wonder how much he was spurring Hogan on. Regardless, I don't know much about him, only parts that I have read at 3si. Sounds like an arrogant ass. I really hope this has fucked with his brain, and he comes out a better person, seeing as his father has failed at making him one.

I will not comment on it because according to Lawdogg, I'm a jackass because I made a thread on 3si called " Nick Hogan is a great driver ". Suddenly, I'm a bad person.
Yeah, I'm alive.

I listen to everyone. He just kind of surprised me by jumping on my ass like I punched his mother. I honestly don't know what the hell is going on so I won't make a comment either way, which if you look at both threads on 3si I haven't.
Ah well, can't make everyone happy. I still love you Ryan but I think you need a hug badly.

I noticed that. He seems to be a little on edge lately. While Scotty may get under my skin from time to time, at least he hasn't lost his sense of humor. Lawdogg seems to have lost any sense of humor he once had. I hope he gets it back.

He has been a bit of a grump lately. No one likes sour grapes. I tried to hug him and the bitch didn't hug back
Understandable though. If my VR4 was damaged and I was getting run around by the insurance company, I'd probably have a stroke, or kill someone.
