Re: Interesting GT Pro
Looking at the thread today, it seems those who are having problems are '97+ trims, those have a different lower brace due to no active areo option.

I love it when someone says something so simple that no one thought of it and it makes great sense.

Re: Interesting GT Pro
A part made by Greddy USA and a part made by GReddy (japan company) are totally different. While quality might be the same, the part probably isn't even available in Japan. Greddy USA hasn't really become a large company until recently (3-4 years ago) so for them now to be producing their own stuff is good for us. I don't see why there is drama over this product. Nobody makes anything for our cars and when they do it's tons of drama.

Re: Interesting GT Pro
I have a personal problem with Brian's business ethics..he tried to pull the wool over my eyes once on a car purchase (I was planning to buy his wrecked spyder).
His ad went something like this:
VR-4 Spyder: rear-end damage $10,000
Local body shop will fix for $5,000..you could have a running vr-4 spyder for $15,000!!
So, i called him. Over the course of 3 or 4 phone conversations, it turns out the car did not have wheels ($1,500 or so), the body shop would charge about $8,000 (not $5,000) and there was no transmission..but he had a transmission to sell with it for $3,000.
I was ok with the "omissions" until the transmission..then i told him "no thanks".
I've never forgotten that, and I'll likely never do any business with GT Pro because of it.

Z - Oh I am no fan of GT Pro. They are very dodgy. After the thread at 3si which flat out calls the company out, from many unhappy members, neither Brian or Dennis have stepped up. People completely ripping on your company deserves a retort of some sort. NOTHING from them. I would never buy from them.

they screwed me over on a wheel and tire purchase, just flat out lying about their condition. basically the wheels were beat to shit and the tires were worse than worthless as they were still on the wheels and made me have to pay to ship them across the country when they were just garbage, and then have to pay to get them un-mounted. fuck em.

I think there are major reasons for a company to start making parts for a car long after it's run is over. The biggest reason is that now the car is affordable for all the boy racers who want to spend the money on mods - i.e., their "target buyers". When these cars were in production, they were owned by older businessmen who would have laughed at the idea of modding the car.
With teens easily now able to afford the 90's Japanese sports cars, I believe more and more aftermarket parts are going to show up by companies looking to cash in on the ever-growing ricer crowd.

While I agree with the first part of that Ox, the second I don't. The GTO came out to compete with Supra's and Skylines so there had to be a market there. I just think because the GTO failed to capture any part of the market, the aftermarket side fizzled.
On a side note, here in Oz, you see a few suits driving GTO's. They like to pretend they are driving a Porsche or Ferrari!

Re: Interesting GT Pro
These cars were 40K+ new - there were no pimply-faced, snot-nosed high school teens driving them like there are today.

Back in the early 90's, it wasn't the teeny boppers doing these things up. I understand that. But saying that ONLY suits would, without even considering modding isn't quite true imo.

Re: Interesting GT Pro
In the early-mid 90s, Greddy/Apex'i/HKS, etc. were all relatively new over here in the US. Obviously thriving companies in Japan, but they didn't even begin to touch these shores until the late 80s Why bother to make parts for a car that wasn't even that popular in Japan?
