New to me: '99 headlights

Post by J-Groove »

*First off, I'm sorry for the bad pics, they are just quick shots, the afternoon sun was so bright that I had to take the brightness down -127 just to get them to where they are now.

I found a good deal on a pair of '99 headlights from a member on here. I'm sure the lights were from a car that was in an accident. One light was not that bad, the other had some bad scratches and some gouging.

The bad one when they first came in:

After wet sanding and hand buffing:

After that my friend Jeremy took a buffer and polished them for me. Man, I need to get a good buffer.

Here they are installed, sorry the color is so off. I'm sure I'll do a good photoshoot some time soon.

I'm going with a '99 front in the not to distant future, but this looks great for now. :D

I'd leave it like it is. It looks good.

Just gotta get a photoshoot and/or detail job where the car looks red instead of orange. :)
I think about all the things we could have done, all the miracles we could have achieved, if we were all just a little bit better than it turns out we are.

:smartie:

I really need to invest in a buffer too. My white is old and tired.

I like the car like it is. The 99 bumper is overdone, I personally like the 2nd gen look. But that's probably because I own a 1st gen...

A little advice:

Clear coat those now. Outside of a couple weeks they will start looking faded and hazy. a good clearcoat will keep them crystal clear and shiny for years rather than weeks.

Thanks for the compliments. Though I still will be going with a '99 front, I know a lot of people do it, but I have always liked it. And in the end I'm building the car for me. :D

Though I am VERY happy with the '99 lights and my current bumper. I got the idea from Tony (VirginiaTechVR4)

Sigh, I drove my car for the last time for a little while.

I'm sending Eric his ECU back tomorrow, if I don't do it then I wont ever do it.

Eric is a awesome guy, he sent me the ECU out of his car for me to trouble shoot, then let me hold on to it while mine was out for repair. An amazing guy .

It is people like him that make me proud to be a 3S owner.

The blue color on that car makes me jealous. /Sigh the cost of a color change.
