considering selling the jeep

Post by pezcore »

am i stupid?

if you want to say yes, yes you are stupid, it has to be because of selling the jeep, or something at least fairly creative.

I like Jeeps, but they're shitty on gas, that's for sure. I'm selling mine in the next month or two for something else. 4 cylinder most likely. Gas is kicking my ass.

I get about 22-23 mpg in my 98 Cherokee on the freeway, and that is with the windows down, going 75mph, and completely loaded in the back with tools and luggage. It also had my big ass (315lbs) and my wife (about 120).

Can't really complain.

What kind a gas mileage are you looking to get? If you really like Jeeps, they are now making the Jeep Liberty with a diesel, and that gets close to 30 mpg with conservative driving. You can already buy them used. Just a thought.

So are you stupid? No. Would I ever sell MY Jeep for something that got better gas mileage? Only if gas was closer to $5.00 a gallon.

Hmm, what kind of Jeep?

I have a CJ5 that I wouldn't sell for anything (excpet maybe a better Jeep), but it's also a 4 cyl and not my daily driver.

I love my XJ too much to get rid of it. Gas mileage is pretty good in it for a 4.0, and I don't have that far to work. I fill up about once every two weeks or so. As hard as it was to sell my Silverado, then my VR4, I think it would be even harder to sell my XJ.

i have been thinking the same thing about my blazer. I just dont want another car payment. If i had my vr4 i would sell it right out then go buy something right out but at a dealer im never going to break even.

exactly. the jeep is paid off, but costs alot of money to drive -vs- a car payment and low daily costs.

I'm in the same spot you are Pez. I'd rather have a monthly note and get kick ass gas mileage than have a car that's paid off and has an umbilical chord attached to my wallet :p
