Car: VR-4

Tire: BFG KDW2

Size: 245/40/18

I've had them for about 4k miles probably (have to check whenever I get home) and I love them. Great grip in the wet and the dry. Not sure about the treadwear since I haven't had them on all that long, but they still look new.

Little bit of road noise, but it doesn't bother me because I don't daily drive the car. I got used to it anyways, so I don't notice it anymore.

Little on the expensive side though. For the money, plus a little extra, I think I would have gone with the Goodyear F1s. Supposedly the same grip/wear characterstics but with less road noise.

TT

Dunlop SP5000

On recommendation from Trent many years ago, I picked up a set. Outstanding tires, imo. They're an excellent "good weather" tire, and ok in rain. They're grippy and lasted a long time (I don't recall how long..it's been years since I've driven it).

VR-4

Dunlop SP9000

These were on the car when I bought them..I was less impressed. They were a little more slippery and incredibly loud (even after a balance/alignment)..going around on/off ramps on highways they would squeel up a storm. At first, I attributed it to the extra weight of the VR-4, but have since put SP5000's on it with no squeeling and the same performance as the TT.

It's actually been so long since I replaced tires that I don't even know if SP5000's are still made :(
I really gotta get my Stealth back on the road *sigh*

EDIT: i just realized what i did. re71 is NOT the stock tire on the maxima. i know nothing about the re71. i apologize about this. corrected.

protenza RE92. OEM tire on the maxima. one of the worst tires ive ever used. traction and treadlife both horrible. treadwear was on par with a very high performance tire but traction was no where near comparable.

kumho ecsta MX. very good tire for the money. acceptable traction and decent treadwear. ran them on both the maxima to replace the re71s and on the VR4. on the VR4 a fresh set of MXs allowed me to BEAT a prepped john cooper works mini cooper running kumho V700 race rubber in auto-x. they also allowed the maxima to stay withen a couple seconds of a Z06 vette in auto-x.

goodyear eagle ZR. worth what i paid.....free. thats about all i can say about them. comparable to the RE71s but slightly better traction.

eagle F1. crap. pure crap. traction and treadwear sucked.

eagle F1-GSD3. leaps and bounds better than the regular F1. decent traction on a 475 rwhp cobra. smooth breakaway. treadwear was comparable to every other tire thats been on this car....non-existant.

sumitomo HTR+. suprisingly.....not too bad. havent pushed them like i have all previous tires. so far they are in between the nitto 555 and the MX. a little slop in the sidewalls and tread squirm. much better than the 555 and marginally better than the mx in the wet. acceptable in freezing.

nitto 555. poor traction. poor treadwear. very sloppy feel. i am honestly amazed at how/why ppl rave about this tire. it is really not that good of a tire. cool tread pattern maybe?

continential contisportcontact. mid level dry traction. slightly worse in the wet. decent steering feedback. not too much slop. sidewalls cracked soon in their life.

kumho victoracer....OMFG. no wonder its a race rubber. sticks like GLUE. amazing feedback and breakaway. actually drivable in the wet AS LONG AS YOU DONT HIT STANDING WATER.

I love the Falken GRb 451's I bought. Excellent year-round tire if you're in an area that doesn't catch much snow. I've never hydroplaned with 'em.

Car: VR-4

Tire: Potenza RE050A

Traction... awesome, except on ice. Wet or Dry they grip the road and dont let go.

Price: ouch

Just another vote saying that the Potenzas are garbage.

Worthless in wet conditions, barely acceptable in dry.

Stock tires on an S2k.
